Brad and Haley's Engagements - Winner of Engagement Session Giveaway - Utah Wedding Photographer - SaltAir

You know how you just meet someone who is the complete opposite of you but all of their opposites complete you and all of your imperfections and all of your opposites complete him and all of his imperfections? Meet Brad and Haley. They first met on a cruise and one year later, Brad propsed to Haley on yet another cruise. Haley talks a lot and Brad is quiet but yet they seem to communicate with each other beyond anyone or anything they know. Haley kisses with her eyes closed and Brad eyes open. "Opposites attract because they are not really opposites, but complementaries." - Sydney J. Harris
Haley and Brad won the engagement session giveaway I was doing a little while back and I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful couple. I am so glad I was able to contribute to your special lives together and wish you both complete happiness in this journey we call life...TOGETHER. ENJOY!

Ben and Kimberly's Engagement Session - Utah Wedding Photographer

One of my sweet brides Erin referred Kim to me and I was so excited to finally meet her and her fiance, Ben. We had talked on the phone but because she is in Colorado and I am in Utah we hadn't met yet. They traveled all the way from thw Denver, Colorado area to have their engagement pictures taken. We decided to do them in Park City where we also stopped at Ruby Tuesday (one of my very favorites) for a quick bite to eat.
Kimberly and Ben met while he was auditioning for a play at the community theatre where she worked and was also auditioning for that play. From there, the rest is history. He proposed this past winter by coming to her house and attaching her ring to her puppy, Roxy's collar - but it wasn't just and ordinary collar - It was a special collar that had the words "Will You Marry Me?" and little Roxy ran up to Kim with her new collar on and after she realized what was happening she looked over and saw Ben down on one knee as the tears started falling.
I am so excited for your wedding! I really enjoyed spending the day in Park City with you guys and hope that through all of this, I can leave you with a little piece of my heart :) ENJOY!
PS - For any of you wondering I shot this entire session with my 24-70 mm 2.8 and my 16mm 2.8 fisheye ;)

They both love Coca-Cola so I thought this was a fun one :)

Utah Newborn Photographer - Baby Kael - Ten Days Old

Introducing Baby Kael...
I love this one with his little bum in the air...so sweet...
This is why I absolutely love photographing newborns! Look at those cute little wrinkles...sooo many of them.
Bryan, this one is for you because I know how much you "love" the stand that Jodie bought...chuckles...
Here, I added a texture overlay of a cement wall that I photographed + dodge and burn
And, lastly, this is Connie's photo wall. Each picture normally has her kids in it (all of which I have taken) but I decided to photoshop Kael's detail shots into each one. What do you think?

Peyton Turns Two and Gets a Newborn Baby Brother!

This is such a crazy thing for me to post because I realize I am getting older and older and older...Jodie's wedding was the very first wedding I shot, but I actually have known Jodie since she started high school (ten years ago) and have been so blessed to have her mom as a dear, dear friend and to be able to capture all of Jodie's larger than life memories (this is why I LOVE my job!) . So here is Peyton two years after this post when he was just a newborn. Boy have I come a long way! Keep watching for Peyton's new little brother, Kael, I shot his pictures on this same day but thought I would give Peyton his own spotlight :) Enjoy!

Yellowstone National Park - September 2009 - Last Day

Whew! I feel like I finally made it! I am finally posting the last day of our Yellowstone Vacation all the way back in September (You can view all of my other Yellowstone adventures here). CRAZY! This was such an awesome day...we were supposed to be heading home because Matt had to be to work the next day so we got up early in Cody, Wyoming and headed over to the Buffalo Bill museum and took the kids through for what seemed like forever...it was very interesting though and then we headed back through the park. This we saw on the way there...
We kept on driving into the park and saw a bunch of people sitting on the side of the road, so as any curious person does in Yellowstone, we got out and asked what was there...we saw the picture I posted a week ago of a grizzly bear laying down on the trees and waving at us...seriously...he was waving his paw around the tree and I could almost hear him laughing ( I know he was thinking "If you all would just leave me alone so I could enjoy my dinner I would get up, but since you all are watching me like idiots, I'll tease you for a few hours)...we waited for almost two hours for it to get up. Well when it did, I thought I was ready, but I didn't have my tripod and the Tahoe was like twenty cars away from me...so I just started taking pictures. I had my 300mm 2.8 lens on (which is huge...seriously somedays I think that thing is bigger than me) and I could not hold it up for the life of me because I was shaking so bad. I think I was just so EXCITED to be SO close to a grizzly bear IN THE WILD!!! I really thought I was going to pee my pants! So, really - under pressure I melted and these were the not so good shots I got of the bear, but hey, it was an awesome life experience that not everyone can say they've had...
It enjoyed the berries...
I swear it was looking right at me...
Yeah, so now we are talking...the grizzly came up the hill and the only thing separating me from it was a two lane road and my HUGE MONSTROUS lens...I was seriously dying...the ranger kept yelling at me and another guy with an equally huge lens to get back because it is a wild animal ... yadda yadda yadda...but where was I supposed to go...my car was seriously so far down the road and I would have had to get closer to the bear to get to it...IT WAS AWESOME!
So, after the grizzly walked far far away and there were too many cars and people to continue watching, we headed away from the bear...about three hours later...so much for Matt getting to work and Kenyon to school in the morning...so we headed on our merry way out of the park through Teton National Park where we saw more of the buffalo...
this one actually looks cute :)

and again, I had another first...never have I seen two buffalo trying to GET IT ON!!! it was such a CRAZY day!
and we made it to Mormon Row in Tetons as the lighting was just gorgeous. I have always wanted a nice landscape shot of this scene...

And last, I thought this sign was too fun not to share!
I hope you have all enjoyed our journey through Yellowstone National Park, Jackson Hole and Teton National Park with the kiddos...keep watching for our trip that Matt and I took over Valentine's for a winter excursion in Yellowstone...another really AWESOME experience...the only complaint I have is that it was really only a one day trip...never long enough ;)
